11 Generals Have Been Retired From Nigerian Army

Eleven generals of the Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps in Lagos State were on Friday pulled out of service. NAN reports that the officers were eight Major-Generals and 3 Brigadier-Generals who retired between 2013 and 2015.

In a valedictory speech, Maj.-Gen. m*****d Yerima, former Chief of Training and Operations, Defence Headquarters, expressed appreciation for the gesture.

He pledged that the retired officers would continue to keep the Nigerian flag high. He admonished the serving military personnel to continue to be loyal and be extra-vigilant.

The Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, was represented at the event by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Tamunomiebi Dibi. He wished them well in their post service years.

NFF to pay N5m house rent for Oliseh

New Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh has located a house in highbrow Maitama, Abuja, and the NFF are set to pay the annual rent of five million Naira.
A top source told AfricanFootball.com: “Oliseh has already seen his house in Abuja. It’s in Maitama and the rent is five million Naira a year, which the NFF are now preparing to pay for.”
Oliseh’s assistants are also to be housed in Abuja as they begin the onerous task of rebuilding the Super Eagles.
Oliseh’s predecessor Stephen Keshi stayed in hotels in Abuja when he was in charge of the Eagles.
In the meantime, Oliseh is currently in Europe tracking Nigerian players with the view to considering them for his new team. The Eagles coach is expected to return to Nigeria later next month to continue preparations for the 2017 AFCON qualifier in Tanzania in September.

Some weeks ago, reports claimed that, Maje Ayida, the husband of popular on-air-personality, Toke Makinwa, impregnated a long time lover and flew her out of the country to be delivered of the baby.
Ever since the news broke both parties especially, Ayida, kept mum on the issue and their silence fuelled so many speculations. Out of the blues, the fitness trainer who has kept a low profile since the news of him reportedly impregnating his longtime girlfriend, Anita Solomon broke, publicly apologized to his wife via his instagram page.
In his apology, he made it clear that he was wrong and he was still in love with his wife.
He said, “I am writing to express my sincerest apologies to my wife. I was wrong, it is indefensible and I am sorry. I deeply regret what my wife and my family has had to endure. My behaviour has caused a lot of anguish to everyone. Though this matter has been very public in nature, it is a private issue and I would appreciate the opportunity to face it privately.”

Fire at Zenith Bank


 
There was a minor fire incident at the head office of Zenith Bank on Ajose Adeogun, Victoria Island, Lagos State, on Thursday.

It was learnt that the fire, which started around 5pm, destroyed some gadgets and a few documents.
The Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaq Fadipe, confirmed the incident. He said apart from a few items that were torched, there was no casualty.
He said, “We got a distress call around 5pm and our men from Onikan Station responded immediately. The fire was caused by an electric spark inside the bank. Some computers and few documents were burnt but there was no casualty.”
One of the bank’s workers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “Journalists! Well, we thank God it (the fire) was minor. At least, you can see everywhere lighted up and calm. But I am not in the position to tell you the cause or the extent of damage.”
Calm had been restored in the area as of 8.30pm when our correspondent left the bank.
