NYPD shuts down Davido's NY concert because it was over-packed

You have to be a really special artist for this to happen to you. The New York Police Department last night March 28th shut down Davido's concert which held at Pulse 48 in Brooklyn because the concert was overbooked, leading to safety concerns. People going to the concert caused shut down of two blocks in Brooklyn, forcing the police to intervene.

The show yesterday was supposed to be Davido's first show as he kicks off US/Canada Tour 2014. He has a show in D.C today and Minnesota tomorrow. Then Dallas, Texas on Friday the 4th of April, then makes a final stop in Toronto, Canada on the 5th of April.

Facebook To Provide Satellite Internet Around The World Using Drone

Facebook’s flying-internet efforts mirror a similar project that’s underway at Google.

The Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, is putting together a lab where a team of Facebook engineers will build flying drones, satellites, and infrared lasers capable of beaming internet connections to people.

Mr. Zuckerberg on Thursday revealed the project to be known as the Facebook Connectivity Lab.

According to Mr. Zuckerberg, the lab’s engineering staff already spans “many of the world’s leading experts in aerospace and communications technology,” including researchers from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab, NASA’s Ames Research Center, and the National Optical Astronomy Observatory.

The company is also now adding engineers from a British company called Ascenta, an outfit that helped create the world’s longest solar-powered unmanned aircraft.

FireChat For iOS Is A Hyperlocal Anonymous Chat Network That Doesn’t Need An Internet Connection

We all know that chat apps are pretty hot right now and there are plenty of companies hoping for a WhatsApp-like exit. For the most part, all of those apps are pretty similar, but FireChat, which is launching today, adds a new and fun twist to this genre. It’s a hyperlocal chat network for iOS that even works when you don’t have an Internet connection.
It makes use of the Multipeer Connectivity Framework in iOS 7, which allows developers to discover Multipeer-enabled services on nearby iOS devices using Wi-Fi, peer-to-peer connections and Bluetooth. Because it relies on these techniques, the range is around 100 feet, but because of the mesh architecture behind FireChat, the actual range of the network around could be much larger.

MTV Base has announced that its yearly music awards, MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA), will hold on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the Durban International Convention Centre in Durban, South Africa.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Durban by Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Viacom International Media Networks.
It’s the first time the event will be holding since 2010.

The management of Bowen University this morning closed the school indefinitely following students' protest last night. Students of the private uni. say they are protesting scarcity of electricity, water and plans by the university to increase school fees. The students say they are not being treated right

Jaywon desperately seeks exit from Kennis Music Label

Iledare Oluwajuwonlo James aka Jaywon, a recording artiste signed to Kennis Music, has written to the label requesting for his contract to be terminated.

According to NET findings, the singer is bent on leaving the record label and he has offered to buy out the remainder of his contract.

In a press release by Kennis Music, the label advised all broadcasters to desist from playing any material from Jaywon pending the resolution of the contract buy-out request.

The statement reads in part: ‘Jaywon has written a letter via his lawyer requesting for his contract with Kennis Music to be terminated. Jaywon wrote, in the same letter, his readiness and willingness to pay off all costs therein accordingly. Meanwhile, Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria IBAN MEMBERS and all broadcasters on all platforms are hereby advised to Un-list the works (Either single performances or and collaborations) of Iledare Oluwajuwonlo James aka Jaywon from their respective rotational play lists until his (Jaywon) request to buy over his contract is fully completed, to avoid litigation

Chris Brown In Prison Uniform! Singer Jailed & Denied Bail

Popular American singer Chris Brown has been jailed after he was kicked out rehab twice for using abusive language. His probation violation hearing held yesterday morning and the judge in charge has denied him bail. The judge also denied the singer’s request for a new rehabilitation facility. He has been ordered to stay in jail till the 23rd of April meaning the singer will be in prison for over 5 weeks. Nigerian Soccer star, Jon Obi Mikel and Nollywood Actress, Genevieve Nnaji have been announced as the new ambassadors for malt drink, Amstel Malta.

Back in February, the pair was flown to South Africa to shoot a Television commercial for Amstel Malta, and pictures from the set were later released, which sparked speculations over what they might be up to.

The advert which is themed around the inspirational story of both stars was unveiled for the first time to the audience at the recently held 2014 African Magic Viewers choice awards.

Speaking on the endorsement, Genevieve said, ‘I’m delighted with Amstel Malta’s efforts in celebrating our own with the world. I am very excited about the opportunity this platform gives me to inspire the youths and will definitely do my best to support this noble cause.’

Award winning music producer Don Jazzy, is set to unveil his new recording studio.

According to a report, the yet-to-be unveiled studio is a world class that was constructed by international sound engineers who have worked with acclaimed international producers.

It was also learnt that the studio which is situated in Lekki, Lagos, western Nigeria is the producer's source of income for talented artistes and upcoming producers who want to record songs and albums.

Don Jazzy recently signed on R&B singer, Korede Bello, to his Mavin Records label. Korede, like the other new Mavin acts before him, debuted with a single, African Princess, produced by Don jazzy.

Other artistes on the record label are the original Mavin crew, Tiwa Savage, D’Prince and Dr. Sid.

A Young Iady Sells Three-day-old baby for N260,000 in Akwa Ibom state

According to a report by Punch, a nursing mother in Akwa Ibom named Imaobong Udoh (pictured above) has been arrested for allegedly selling her 3-day old baby girl for N260,000. Full report below

Also arrested along with Imaobong were four persons for allegedly participating in the theft of the baby.

They are the buyer, Mrs. Regina James; her husband, Mfon James; the traditional birth attendant who delivered the baby, Mrs. Comfort Henry; and Mr Emmanuel Okon, a homeopathic doctor, who arranged the sale.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Gwadabe, said in Uyo on Monday that the father of the baby had reported the theft to the police, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

The second edition of Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) was held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the convention centre of Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event was a rare convergence of some of the biggest movie stars and celebrities on the African continent, who came together to celebrate the best in the movie business in the last calendar year.

The event was hosted by the trio of IK Osakioduwa, Osas Ighodaro and Vimbai Mutinhiri, who gave a good account of themselves.

On a night when Kenyan movie, ‘Nairobi half-life’ won four awards for Art Directing, Make-up, Lighting and Cinematography, Ghanaian flick, ‘Contract’ would equally cart home four plaques, earning nods for Best Writing in a Drama, Best Video Editing, Best Directing, and the Best Movie Prize.

Now, how many of us have celebrity dads? Yup, not many.

Hours ago, this picture of Wizkid’s and Ice Prince‘s sons (Boluwatife and Jamal) surfaced on the internet and  went viral amongst the musicians’ fans. Posted on Instagram by Ice Prince’s road manager Nanle Bishmang, the photo was reposted by their celebrity dads who were quite excited their kids got to meet and hangout.

‘Time out with the Boizz.. Wiz’s kid and Ice’s Prince. Saturday with the Boiz Jamal and Tife!‘ Ice Prince wrote on IG, with Wizzy putting up something much more emotional: ‘2kings! This pic made my day! @iceprincezamani all love my nigg! Our kids will run this!‘

This year, Boluwatife turns three years old while Jamal turns two. What makes this picture so memorable is the similarities between their controversial births: both fathers vehemently denied they fathered their kids when NET exclusively broke the reports back in 2011 and 2012.

But, seemingly reaching a level of confidence and maturity, years later, Wizkid and Ice Prince came out proud fathers, flaunting these cute little kids on social media.

They have, however, kept their mothers in the background, maintaining a mutual friendship with them.

Two children of the late maximum dictator, General Sani Abacha, on Wednesday singled out Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, for a venomous attack. While Gumsu, the late dictator’s daughters, took to her Twitter page to pass disparaging remarks on him, her brother Sadiq chose blogs and online forums to snarl abuses at the widely respected Professor.

Abacha's son said Soyinka is a “common writer” who has grown old and fast “losing his grasp of reality.”

Popular Fuji Musician, Obesere Arrested For Rape

The Fuji musician has been accused of rape by a lady know as Miss Olaiya. Olaiya said she was introduced to the musician so he could help her with her business. Long story short, she spent the night in his house after the musician advised it was too late for her to go back home that night.

Obesere later came to the room she was and allegedly pounced on her forcefully, and inserted a ring he wore on one of his figures in her private part after making love to her, which made her to start bleeding.

Now that’s one part of the story I don’t understand.
